The St Jude’s Vigilance Committee was formed following the brutal murder of [http://www.crimehub.co.uk/index.php?title=Martha_Tabram Martha Tabram] in the early hours of 7th August 1888. She was murdered in [http://crimehub.co.uk/index.php?title=George_Yard_Buildings George Yard Buildings], Whitechapel.

The committee was made up of twelve men who were to watch certain streets, usually between 11pm and 1am. The honorary secretary was Thomas Hancock Nunn.

The committee met on a weekly basis.
