Henry Turner, a carpenter, had an on-off relationship with Martha Tabram after she separated from her husband, Henry Samuel Tabram.
Henry Turner said at her resumed inquest on 23rd August 1888, "Since she has been living with me her character for sobriety was not good. If I gave her any money she generally spent it in drink. In fact, it was always drink".
