Maureen’s ability to describe her attacker was made difficult because she was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the attack. She thought she had obtained a lift in a car from a large man of about 35 years of age who had light brown shoulder length hair. She was not able to give a description of the car which was involved although a nightwatchman saw a car draw away from the scene and described it as a white Mark II Ford Cortina.
The attempted murder of Maureen Long was investigated by Assistant Chief Constable Oldfield from an incident room established in Bradford.
