18 George Street, Spitalfields

18 George Street was a common lodging house in Spitalfields.

Its deputy keeper was Mrs Mary Russell.

Emma Elizabeth Smith lived at the lodging house when she was viciously attacked in the early hours of 3rd April 1888.

Mrs Mary Russell took Emma Smith to the London Hospital, where she sadly died from her injuries.
